George Clooney hosted a fundraiser for the President of the United States last night. Clooney set the scene in his backyard! Clooney served hawt dergs and Britney came over. NO!! It was actually fancier than I’m making it sound. Clooney set up a special tent and Wolfgang Puck catered and all in all, it was the biggest one-night fundraising event in American history . It was $40,000 a plate, and all of the big Hollywood Democrats were there: Barbra Streisand, Robert Downey, Jr., Salma Hayek, Jack Black, Eddie Murphy, Billy Crystal, Barry Diller, Diane Von Furstenberg, Rob Reiner, J.J. Abrams, Tobey Maguire and the mayor of Los Angeles were just some of the guests. Oh, and STACY KEIBLER. Yes, Clooney has not dumped his lady-wrestler. Yet. Stacy was at the event, and Clooney was not ashamed of sharing a little PDA with her: George Clooney sure knows how to throw a bash fit for the Hollywood — and Washington, D.C. — elite. Hosting a $40,000-a-plate fundraiser for President Barack Obama at his Los Angeles home Thursday, Clooney’s guest of honor spent the evening mingling with the actor and 150 other celebs in an effort to raise funds for his re-election campaign. Partying in a tent on Clooney’s basketball court, guests including Tobey Maguire, Barbra Streisand, Salma Hayek and Jack Black dined on a menu crafted by celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck. Clooney’s Thursday efforts are said to have raised an estimated $15 million for Obama, who also made news this week when publicly supporting the legalization of gay marriage. “We raised a lot of money because everybody loves George. They like me, they love him. And rightfully so,” Obama, 50, raved of Clooney, 51. During his 19-minute speech, Obama also mentioned how he saw Shepard Fairey’s 2008 “Hope” poster hanging in Clooney’s home and divulged details of its origin. “People don’t realize that the photograph of me is actually me sitting next to George,” Obama said of the photo that was taken when the duo advocated for Darfur together. “This is the first time that George Clooney has actually been Photoshopped out of a picture. Never happened before, never happen again,” Obama joked. Though the actor largely catered to President Obama Thursday, he made sure to tend to his girlfriend, Stacy Keibler, frequently during the event. “They were holding hands and kissing all night, total couple mode,” an attendee tells Us Weekly of the pair of nearly one year. [From Us Weekly ] As you may remember, Stacy was a no-show at the Correspondents Dinner two weekends ago – Stacy had even tweeted about a dress fitting for the event, so she was scheduled to come as George’s date, but then Clooney flew solo in DC and everyone was like “Oooh, GIRL, you just got Sarah Larson’d!” George told Politico that Stacy didn’t come because she had to “work”. Cough. So… I’m actually a little bit surprised that Stacy is still around, and that Clooney doesn’t have any problems holding his lady wrestler’s hand in the company of the president. A few days ago, I was looking at some new photos of Miley Cyrus, and I found myself sick with… envy. Miley’s life is looking pretty sweet right about now, right? She worked throughout her childhood and she’s sitting on millions of dollars. She doesn’t have to work at all. She’s young, she owns her own home, and she lives with her cute Aussie boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth. She spends her days having sex with her hunky boyfriend, getting her hair done, going to endless Pilates classes, smoking weed, and hanging out with her dogs. I’m just saying… that’s a pretty sweet life when you’re 19 years old. So, Miley (and Liam) are already dog-parents to three puppies – Lila, Floyd and Ziggy. Since Miley really didn’t have anything else to do, she just adopted another rescue puppy. She and Liam have named the little Rottweiler-beagle mix “Happy”. Miley explained on Twitter , “He was left in a box in front of Walmart. I don’t understand how people can be so cruel. That’s why we named him Happy.” Liam was also spotted on Tuesday picking up stuff for the new puppy at the pet store – you can see the photos here . Isn’t that cute? Miley keeps adopting puppies and Liam is totally enabling her. He’s all, “Fine, I’ll go get some more pee pads, babe.” They’re like the young version of Brangelina, only they’re adopting puppies not international babies. Miley tweets lots of cute photos of Happy too! The little white dog is named Joey, and Miley says Joey is “Happy’s new girlfriend.” Happy looks like he’s going to be a handful, doesn’t he? We got a request for MORE Benedict Cumberbatch coverage, so here you go. These are new photos of Cumby at a NYC screening of the first episode of Sherlock’s second season. Did you watch the first season of Sherlock ? It was pretty good. No, make that “damn good.” Cumby gets a lot of good press for his portrayal of a modern Sherlock Holmes, but we should also give Martin Freeman a lot of credit too – his Dr. Watson is a wonderful companion/straight-man/friend to Sherlock . Anyway, the second season of Sherlock begins on PBS this Sunday! Are you excited? I am! It’s already aired in the UK, of course – I think they got to see it last summer or fall. If you’re not on the Cumberbitch Bandwagon yet, let me just say… I enjoy photos of the Cumberbatch, but he’s much better in motion. He’s an odd-looking man, for sure. But he also has a very rich, educated, posh vibe about him – he’s intellectual and well-spoken, and to borrow a phrase from F. Scott Fitzergerald, his voice sounds like money. And in case you’re not into the Sherlock Holmes thing and your deal is decidedly nerdier, Cumberbatch was cast in the new Star Trek sequel. It was just confirmed this week that he’s playing KHAN! Benedict Cumberbatch promotes ‘Sherlock’ in NYC: would you hit it?
It’s the battle of the former Disney girls! That’s right, Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato are both reportedly in the running for a role on X Factor USA. According to Celebuzz.com, an insider has revealed that Miley has been in talks with the reality singing competition show. However, at the same time another source has hinted to the Hollywood Reporter, that Lovato is in final negotiations for the gig. Both girls are said to be in consideration because their age would appeal to a younger audience. Meanwhile, talks to bring Britney Spears on the show continue to drag on. Brit Brit has not yet inked a deal either! With the show premiering this fall, we can’t wait to see who actually makes the cut.

Possibly hoping to heal any scarring left from her blender incident stitch removal, Miley Cyrus dropped by the Dermatology and Laser Centre of Studio City on Tuesday afternoon (May 1). Once finished up with her appointment, the 19-year-old covered her face with her jacket en route to her car – then heading over to a nearby Shell gas station to fill up her Mercedes SL550. The outing comes just after rumors sparked that Miss Cyrus could be returning to the small screen to judge on the second season of the Fox reality show, “The X-Factor.” An insider with the program revealed to E! News that the 19-year-old singer is one of the names thrown into the mix of new judges to replace Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul , while Avril Lavigne has also been mentioned. No offers have been extended to the “Hannah Montana” star, but there is definitely an increased interest.
