Back in 2010, John Mayer did “The Playboy Interview” and he spoke “off the cuff” at length about himself (his favorite topic), race, love, his ex-girlfriends, “hood passes” and whether or not he’s gay. It’s totally worth it to go back and read just some of the selected excerpts from that controversial interview which changed his career forever , by the way. The Playboy interview was the beginning of the end for John Mayer – he limped along for the rest of the year, but over the course of 2011 and the beginning of 2012, he’s been pretty quiet. People really wanted him to go away after he offended everybody in the Playboy piece, and once he disappeared, he stayed gone long enough for people to miss him. Anyway, Mayer has a new album coming out called Born and Raised . Apparently there’s a song called “Shadow Days” about his relationship with Jennifer Aniston. Back in the 2010 interview, he spoke about their relationship too, saying: “It’s been a deep relationship, and it’s no longer taking place at all. Have you ever loved somebody, loved her completely, but had to end the relationship for life reasons?… I’ll always be sorry that it didn’t last. In some ways I wish I could be with her. But I can’t change the fact that I need to be 32. Parts of me aren’t 32. My ability to go deep with somebody is old soul. My ability to commit and be faithful is old soul. But 32 just comes roaring out of me at points when I don’t see it coming. I want to dance. I want to get on an airplane and be like a ninja. I want to be an explorer. I want to be like The Bourne Identity. I don’t want to pet dogs in the kitchen.” [Playboy via previous Celebitchy post ] I took that as Mayer saying he dumped Jennifer (for the second time – the first time was when he dumped her and gave an impromptu press conference about it in the summer of 2008) because she was too old and stuffy for him – he wanted to be “32” and not be settled into a routine with the dogs. So what is Mayer saying/singing about Aniston now? John Mayer is finally ready to let go of Jennifer Aniston — in song. Although they split nearly three years ago, the 34-year-old singer (whose exes also include Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Love Hewitt) penned his single “Shadow Days” (from the album Born and Raised) with Aniston, 43, in mind. “Shadow Days is about Jen,” a source tells Us Weekly. “It really took him a long time to get over her. He really loved her a lot.” Sings Mayer in the song: “”You find yourself alone. . . I found myself in pieces/ On my hotel floor/Hard times help me see/I’m a good man with a good heart/Had a tough time, got a rough start/And I finally learned to let it go.” Explains the source: “He wrote the song as a farewell letter knowing [Jen] would hear it. Ultimately he’s done a lot of self reflection though and it he realizes they weren’t right for each other.” The rocker and the Horrible Bosses actress first got together in April 2008 and, after multiple breakups, called it quits for good in late 2009. Aniston has been happily ensconced with Justin Theroux for over a year now. “[John and Jen] weren’t right for each other, but he is really a good guy.” After high-profile flameouts both Simpson, 31, and then Aniston, Mayer is done dating celebs, the source adds. “He’s looking for a nice, non famous girl he can relate to. . . The second annual Comedy Central Comedy Awards were taped last night (April 28) in New York City and some of our favorite comedians including Kristen Wiig , Will Arnett and Maya Rudolph were in attendance. The awards show honors the best in stand-up, television, film, and online hysteria, as well as recognizing the legendary comedians of our time. This year, the special mentions were dedicated towards comedic icon Don Rickles and funny man Robin Williams , who called himself “one of the luckiest (bleeps) in show business, with the possible exception of Ryan Seacrest.” “The Daily Show’s” Jon Stewart presented the Johnny Carson Award to Rickles, who said in his acceptance speech, “a master of what he did…the man had the magic to make you look good.” Stewart added, “People love Don Rickles, but comics revere Don Rickles. He’s the first guy to come out and go, ‘What’s so special about you people?’ He turned it around and showed comics we could fight back.” The big victories of the night included “Bridesmaids”, which was awarded best comedy film and best comedy screenplay, best director for Paul Fieg and best actress for Melissa McCarthy . Louis CK went home with four gongs including best stand-up tour and best comedy special. “Archer” surprisingly snagged the award for best animated comedy series while NBC’s “Parks and Recreation” took home the prize for best comedy series and best actress for its darling star, Amy Poehler . “Modern Family’s” Ty Burrell took home a well-deserved best TV actor award while “The Daily Show” won best night series. Other stars in attendance at this fun-filled evening included Jim Carrey , Robert De Niro , Elisha Cuthbert and Chevy Chase. She’s had quite the banner year thus far, and now Kristen Stewart can add Best-Dressed Woman to her list of accolades as bestowed upon her by Glamour UK. According to the publication, the “Twilight” star has earned the recognition due to her serious style transformation from the years before. They write, “Whether she’s working bodycon Monique Lhuillier on the red carpet, or dressing down in jeans and a T-shirt, Kristen is always effortlessly on-trend. Her evolution from awkward teen to style queen has made the Twilight star a fashion icon every girl can relate to.” Next on the mag’s list is fresh-faced beauty Emma Watson , who they described as a “colour chameleon” who looks “stunning in both rainbow brights and monochrome, cementing her place in the style set.” Rounding out the top five fashion favorites were Victoria Beckham (#3), Kate Middleton (#4) and Florence Welch (#5). Kristen Stewart is the best dressed woman in the world ! According to Glamour UK at least. Kristen topped a list that included many British fashion-girls, which is kind of impressive – Kristen being an American, after all. I was trying to put myself in that frame of mind – if I was 16 years old again, would I want to dress like Kristen? When I was 14-15, I was all about Winona Ryder, so… yeah. Probably. I’m not saying 1995 Winona = 2012 K-Stew. But there are some correlations. And while I’m still not a fan of Kristen’s “street style,” her red carpet style continues to improve year after year. She’s young, she’s mixing it up, she’s learning. And she just got a Balenciaga contract too! Anyway, Glamour’s top five was rounded out by (in order): Emma Watson, Victoria Beckham, the Duchess of Cambridge and Florence Welch (of Florence + the Machine). Other Americans on the list included Blake Lively, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Alba (??), Gaga, Beyonce, Emma Stone, Angelina Jolie (#23) and Jennifer Aniston (#30). It was reported recently that Hollywood stylists are refusing to work with her thanks to her careless off-duty attire and alleged bad attitude. But Kristen Stewart has defied her critics by being crowned the world’s best dressed woman by fashion bible Glamour magazine. The Twilight star, 22, placed ahead of Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss and the Duchess of Cambridge as the most stylish of the stars. While she used to smirk at the thought of couture, Kristen has developed an appreciation for fashion of late, turning up to Paris Fashion Week and dazzling in designs by Balenciaga, Chanel, J Mendel and Roberto Cavalli in the past year. The tomboy actress has also ditched her penchant for wearing trainers on the red carpet, but they remain her day-to-day uniform, paired with jeans and T-shirts. The magazine praises Kristen for her progression from ‘awkward teen to style queen’ and for always being ‘effortlessly on-trend’. She also topped the best-dressed couple rankings with boyfriend and co-star Robert Pattinson. Harry Potter star and Burberry model Emma Watson slipped from top spot in 2011 to second place in Glamour’s top 50. Singer and former X Factor judge Cheryl Cole also dropped from second to eighth in the rankings, but the magazine says the pop star has the ‘fashion factor nailed’. Spice Girl turned fashion designer Beckham has shot-up 12 places to third, with the magazine praising the ‘adorable co-ordinating looks’ she shares with ‘her new favourite accessory’ – baby daughter Harper. This year’s top 10 is completed by flame-haired singer Florence Welch, My Week With Marilyn star Michelle Williams, Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively, US socialite reality TV star Olivia Palermo, and Rihanna. The top 20 includes supermodel Kate Moss, X Factor judge Kelly Rowland, actress Keira Knightley and Dannii Minogue. Sister Kylie is at 45. Rising style-setter Rosie Huntington-Whiteley placed at number 17, followed by Fearne Cotton and Jennifer Lopez, with Mila Kunis rounding out the top 20.
