"Glee" Guys Swarm the 2012 SAG Awards

Adding their handsomeness to the red carpet, the guys of “Glee” turned up at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles for the 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday (January 29). Taking their talents to the Tinseltown celebration, the suit-clad crew of Darren Criss , Chord Overstreet , Matthew Morrison , Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith were all on-hand. Also seen at the swanky event were fellow castmates Mark Salling, Harry Shum Jr. and Kevin McHale, who anxiously messaged his fans before arriving by tweeting, “SAG awards today. aka the day when i embarrass myself the most by going up to people that i love and making a fool of myself. i can’t wait!” As for the “Glee” stars’ nominations, the cast was up for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series but lost out to “Modern Family.”

Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer & The Help win big at The SAGs: who worked it?

The Help won big at last night’s SAG Awards, with Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer taking home statues for leading and supporting actress. The film also won for motion picture cast, beating out The Artist and Bridesmaids among others. Viola gave some inspirational speeches as we’ve come to expect from her. I think she’s got the Oscar on lock down. She got me all choked up yet again when she talked about being inspired as a little girl to become an actress. Here’s part of her acceptance speech for lead actress and I’m including a photo of her posing with Cecily Tyson: “ I was eight years old when I decided to be an actress. I am am so privileged to be gazing on the beautiful face of the woman who inspired me that beautiful day, and that’s Cecily Tyson. When I woke up and realized how difficult it was to be an actor and how rejection was so high – another beautiful face graced the screen when I was in college, and that’s Meryl who always inspires me… What is there but a dream? You can’t trade in a dream for another dream. ” She also gave a shout out to the kids in Central Falls, Rhode Island “ to dream big, and dream fierce .” When The Help won for lead cast, Viola again stepped up and brought the room to tears. She said, in part, “ It’s been such a joy to just be a part of this cast… I just want to say that the stain of racism and sexism is not just for people of color or women. It’s all of our burden, all of us. I don’t care how orfinary you may feel, we all of us can inspire change .” It was a nice way to end the night. I loved Viola’s white sleeveless Marchesa dress with the asymmetric gold sequin pattern along the bodice. I thought it was flattering and atypically pretty for Marchesa. Kaiser told me that it looked like Viola was wearing a boob sling, though, and I definitely noticed how bouncy she was. The dress didn’t look as lovely in motion as it did in photos. I thought her gold cuff bracelet was amazing. She told a cute story to Giuliana Rancic on the red carpet about how her daughter, adopted 3 months ago, tried on her jewelry while she was getting ready and kept saying “ Nice, momma .” Octavia Spencer went with a draped gray Tadashi Shoji with a sequin bodice that was similar to a lot of the other dresses she wore this season. She looked very elegant and I’ve enjoyed seeing her style this season. She also gave a rousing acceptance speech that paid homage to the women who came before her, and thanked civil rights activist Medgar Evers as an “unsung hero” of the film. She dedicated her SAG “ to the downtrodden, the underserved, underpriviledged, overtaxed whether emotionally, physically or financially .” Octavia is getting some press for some comments she made backstage about how she needs to lose weight. This makes me sad, because it should really be about her acting ability, not her size. She was asked a question and she answered it in a self deprecating way. She also joked that “ If more women ate, they would be a lot happier. Let me tell you, I am a lot grumpier when I don’t eat .” I can definitely relate. This was Octavia’s date, her friend Josh Hopkins from “Cougar Town,” aka the guy that Courteney Cox probably cheated with. He really gushed about her to Giuliana, and said “ To see a friends’ dreams come true, there’s nothing that can make you happier .” That’s sweet!

Demi Moore Replaced by Mary-Louise Parker in ‘Lovelace’

Following her recent health scare, Demi Moore has been replaced in the biopic Lovelace. Now, instead of portraying the social activist Gloria Steinem, Mary-Louise Parker of the Showtime series ‘Weeds’ will take the part, US Weekly reports. Demi pulled out of the film following a recent health scare that left her hospitalized for several days. The actress has since been released from the hospital, and her estranged husband Ashton Kutcher was spotted arriving back in Los Angeles from a trip to Brazil on the same day she was released. Whether or not that was planned or coincidence remains to be seen… Meanwhile, filming of Lovelace is already underway with Amanda Seyfried starring. Hopefully the film will go off without a hitch, as Amanda already had to replace Lindsay Lohan who dropped out because of legal woes.

Due to some disagreements among the producers, Soderbergh may have to go with a different leading lady. View Slideshow ›

Lana Del Rey Covers Complex Magazine

Continuing her massive rise to fame, Lana Del Rey is featured on the front of the new issue of Complex magazine. The “Video Games” songstress opened up about the inspiration for her songwriting in the accompanying interview, citing romance as her muse. “When I found somebody who I fell in love with, it made me feel different than I felt the rest of the day. It was electrifying. That’s what inspired the ‘Off to the Races’ melodies. That’s one of the times when you’re feeling electrified by someone else and they make you happy to be alive.” And when it comes to her art, Lana is uncompromising in her integrity. “If you consider the definition of authenticity, it’s saying something and actually doing it. I write my own songs. I made my own videos. I pick my producers. Nothing goes out without my permission. It’s all authentic.” She added, “I have a personal ambition to live my life honestly and honor the true love that I’ve had and also the people I’ve had around me. Drew Barrymore looked to be full of energy when she arrived at Good Morning America ‘s NYC studios earlier today. She chatted with Robin Roberts about her soon-to-be released Big Miracle . Drew stars in the film, based on the real-life struggle of three gray whales trapped under Alaskan ice caps in 1988, and said she was drawn to tell the story because of its positive message. "Prometheus" Releases International Poster

Sharing a little taste of what’s to come, a new International poster for the movie “Prometheus” hit the web over the weekend. The forthcoming “Alien” prequel revolves around a team of scientists and explorers who take a thrilling journey that tests their physical and mental limits. Hitting theaters on June 8th, the flick stars Charlize Theron , Michael Fassbender , Noomi Rapace , Sean Harris and Guy Pearce. Of her character in the film, Theron told press, “I play somewhat of a villain in it. She’s the suit that runs the company that has nickeled and dimed this whole thing together, to fund this mission. She starts out one thing and ends up another thing. It’s a pretty nice surprise, toward the third act, so I don’t want to ruin that for you, but she really does start out very one-dimensional.”

Kirsten Dunst Gets Support From Her Man Garrett Hedlund For Sundance Bachelorette Premiere

Kirsten Dunst and Lizzy Caplan hit the red carpet together to premiere their female-driven comedy Bachelorette at the Sundance Film Festival last night. The girls stuck together for the arrivals interviews and chatted about their own experiences in friends’ bridal parties – though apparently there are no crazy bachelorette stories from their real lives. Kirsten’s boyfriend, Garrett Hedlund, snuck in right behind her, skipping the press but supporting his girl. James Marsden joked about how much fun he had playing an “unapologetic douchebag” in the film, which apparently pushes the envelope of the dark wedding comedy. Afterwards, the cast hit up their afterparty at TAO. Check out all of our Sundance Film Festival party pictures and coverage! View Slideshow ›
