For whatever reason, my expectations for Baz Luhrmann’s version of The Great Gatsby were quite different than the realities presented in this new trailer, the first for the film. I guess I thought Baz’s acid-trip-style had mellowed with age and that this was going to be an impeccable costume drama, authentic in every way. But… from the first few seconds of the trailer, I was instantly reminded of the party scene in Romeo + Juliet , and how much Baz Luhrmann likes to churn up the psychodrama of a party scene. In the end… I’m kind of disappointed. Some nice things: the scene with all of Gatsby’s shirts – that looks like it’s done really, really well. It was always my favorite bittersweet scene in the book, and I love the look of Gatsby’s two-story closet. I guess I should say something about the actors? Carey Mulligan is such a fine actress. She’s one of my favorites of the new girls, and I think she was a splendid choice for Daisy, and maybe one of the best actresses to portray the Daisy character ever. It seems a bit like she’s in another movie, though – like she thought she was making a more sedate, period, costume drama. As for Leonardo DiCaprio as Gatsby… um, he looks really good. I don’t see any bloated face, and he manages to avoid looking ratty too. Probably because Leo as Gatsby is kind of perfect casting too – who else could really play Gatsby amongst today’s actors? Only Leo, really. I didn’t catch sight of Isla Fisher at all, right? She’s not in the trailer? She plays Myrtle. Joel Edgerton plays Tom Buchanan, and Elizabeth Debicki is Jordan Baker (incidentally, when I first read the book, I thought “Jordan Baker” was THE most sophisticated name for a woman ever). Anyway… it looks okay. I do want to see it, but I think I need to lower my expectations a bit. Poster and stills from ‘The Great Gatsby’.

Gisele Bundchen might be pregnant again. Allegedly. I remember there was some minor gossip around the post-Met Gala news/gossip dump that somebody heard their neighbor’s boyfriend’s hairdresser mention that he had a friend who told him that Gisele might be pregnant, but I didn’t really believe it. It’s not that I don’t think Gisele would or will get pregnant with her second child – I believe her when she talks about wanting a larger family, and considering how “easy” her first pregnancy was with now two-and-half-year-old Ben, I’m guessing Gisele doesn’t see pregnancy as any kind of hardship. But is she really pregnant again? I don’t know. This current round of rumors seems to be originating in Brazil and now the gossip is getting picked up by American outlets. Brazilian sources say Gisele was just in Sao Paulo and she was telling friends and colleagues the “happy news.” There’s also gossip that Gisele’s dressers (for various fashion events) have noticed changes in her figure. I’m including our most recent photos of her, one set from May 7th (the Met Gala in NYC) and one set from May 15th (Gisele was in Brazil, promoting her new lingerie line). I don’t think she looks like she’s “showing” in either set of photos, but allegedly she’s still in the early stages. I will say this – in the Met Gala photos, Gisele’s boobs seem a bit bigger, although it could just be the dress. Considering Gisele and Tom Brady haven’t confirmed anything, I’m still a bit suspicious. But then again, they haven’t explicitly denied anything either. So… we’ll see. My guess is that she is knocked up but it’s still really early and they’ll wait to publicly confirm the news until she’s about four months along and/or showing. Charlize Theron and her little guy, Jackson, landed safely back in LA this afternoon. The working mom wore a thick scarf, fedora, and shades as she walked through LAX carrying an overalls-clad Jackson. The two globetrotters have spent the last few weeks traveling through London, Germany, Spain, and Tokyo, while Charlize handled press for Snow White and the Huntsman . Charlize graced red carpets, posed at photocalls, and even unexpectedly showed off her dance moves on the Spanish talk show El Hormiguero . Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron traveled around the globe this month promoting their action-packed drama Snow White and the Huntsman , out nationwide on June 1. The pair visited France, England, Germany, and Spain before Kristen headed to Mexico and Charlize popped up in Japan. Chris Hemsworth joined his costars at the beginning of the press tour, but opted to stay in London with newborn daughter India and wife Elsa Pataky following the film’s UK world premiere. With its mid-summer release inching closer and closer, “The Dark Knight Rises” revealed six new character posters this afternoon featuring the film’s three stars. Three of the posters were revealed for Christopher Nolan’s latest installment on Yahoo! Movies, while the other three were debuted on the film’s French Facebook page this afternoon (May 22). The film’s leads including Christian Bale , Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy are displayed in a stormy scene along with a snow-filled scene accompanied by the titles “Rise” and “The Legend Ends.” The third and final installment to the Batman trilogy also stars Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Morgan Freeman and is set to release in theaters on July 20.

"The Dark Knight Rises" Debuts Six New Character Posters!
He’s always a festival favorite, and Brad Pitt was in fine form as he attended the 65th Cannes Film Festival premiere of his new movie “Killing Them Softly” today (May 22). Joined by his costars, the “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” star looked dapper as he worked his magic on the fans and paparazzi outside the Palais des Festivals prior to the screening. When asked if he was concerned about the level of violence in the film and its affect on his kids, Brad explained, “Not at all. Violence is an accepted part of the gangster world. I’d have a harder time playing a racist than some guy who shoots another guy in the face.” Pitt added, “Ever seen them butcher a cow for hamburger? It’s incredibly brutal and violent. We live in a very violent world.”

Taking their film across the pond, the cast of “What To Expect When You’re Expecting” were spotted at the UK premiere today (May 22). The BFI IMAX Theater was rife with super-hot stars like Cameron Diaz , who showed up in a head-to-toe white ensemble. Cheryl Cole also made an appearance, showing off her superior style sense in a halter-style white dress with a half-up hairdo. And representing the gentlemen were “Gossip Girl” stud Chace Crawford and “Glee” guy Matthew Morrison .
