A surprising double elimination occurred on Tuesday night’s (May 
episode of “Dancing with the Stars.” Both Melissa Gilbert and Roshon Fegan were let go on the hit show along with their respective partners Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Chelsie Hightower. This comes after an outstanding performance from the “Shake it Up” actor during Monday night’s (May 7) episode as he earned a combined score of 56 out of 60 points, enough for a second-place finish. The 20-year-old had faced elimination twice in the last two weeks, but managed to stay safe with the help of the judge’s panel. Four couples remain to compete in next week’s semi-finals including Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd, William Levy and Cheryl Burke, Katherine Jenkins & Mark Ballas along with Maria Menounos and Derek Hough .

After 14 seasons on air, ABC’s hit show “Dancing with the Stars” is trying out a new elimination method – a “dance duel”. The two couples in jeopardy of elimination were lined up to have a dance-off side by side on the ballroom floor before the judges sent one of the couples home. And this week’s first new “dance duel” elimination ended up seeing Gavin DeGraw & Karina Smirnoff versus Jaleel White & Kym Johnson. After an intense head to head challenge, the judges voted in favor of giving Jaleel and Kym another shot at the mirror ball trophy, which meant DeGraw and Smirnoff were sent home packing.
