whether you were a huge fan of The Simple Life, you may want to grab a tissue.  It seems that the days of Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie making fun of common folk are by.

The E! network announced yesterday that The Simple Life had met it’s death.  A rep for the network told press, “‘Simple Life’ has been a wonderful addition to the E! schedule for two years and we will always be grateful to Paris and Nicole for the hard work and graciousness.”

Speculation is rampant as to the reason for the show’s cancellation.  But the consensus seems to be that the girls were getting sufficient face moment on American televisions with their legal woes. An insider leaked to press, “We felt like the real-life drama of their lives overshadowed anything happening on the show.  Viewers would see Paris

all day expanded on the news about her going to jail, so they didn’t care about seeing her camping with kids. It just was too played out.”

There’s still talk that the show, which is owned by FOX, will be shopped to other networks, or possibly undergo changes to continue with new main characters.  But nothing is conclusive.  A FOX rep said, “No decision about the future of the franchise has been made as of yet.”
